The ethics of AI that sounds like a person

Undisclosed mode lets an assistant reply as a member of your team. It is powerful, and it deserves careful thought.

Small businesses often do not have a dedicated support team, and a warm, on-brand assistant can be the difference between a sale and a bounce. But sounding human raises real questions about honesty.

Where we landed

We give businesses the control and put responsibility for disclosure where the law does — with the business. Undisclosed mode ships with guardrails that keep the assistant from making false claims about being human when asked directly in ways that would mislead.

Sounding human is fine. Deceiving people is not. The line is honesty, not tone.

Your responsibility

Disclosure rules differ by country and industry. If you enable an agent-style persona, you are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to you — and we give you the settings to do so.
