AI transparency

Our AI always says it’s an AI.

Since 2 August 2026, the EU AI Act requires chatbots to make clear that people are talking to an AI. KuraChat was designed that way from the start.

What the law asks for.

Article 50(1) of the EU AI Act says AI systems that interact directly with people must be designed so those people are told they are dealing with an AI, unless that is already obvious from the context. The rule applies from 2 August 2026, including to customer-service chatbots that serve people in the EU.

The duty sits mainly with the provider of the AI system, which for your website chat is us. That is why KuraChat’s disclosure is built into the product rather than left as a setting for you to remember.

This page is a plain-language summary, not legal advice. If you have a specific situation, ask a lawyer.

How KuraChat handles it.

An AI label on every reply

Each AI message carries a small “AI” tag, so it is clear even if someone scrolls back later.

A disclosure line up front

The chat opens with a short notice that the assistant is an AI and the team can take over. You can reword it but not remove it.

Honest when asked

“Are you a bot?” gets a straight answer. The assistant never claims to be a person, and there is no setting to make it.

Clear handoffs

When a teammate joins, the chat says so and shows their name, so customers always know who is replying.

Your brand name, still honest

Name the assistant after your business. It will still introduce itself as an AI assistant.

A record of every chat

Full transcripts in your inbox show what the AI said and when a person took over.

FAQ

Questions? Answered.

Does this apply if my business is outside the EU?

The AI Act can apply when an AI system is used with people in the EU, wherever the business is based. KuraChat discloses to everyone, so you do not have to work out who is where.

Can I turn the AI label off?

No. You can change the wording of the disclosure line and the assistant’s name, but the label and the honest answers are always on.

What about replies my team drafts with AI?

AI-drafted replies in the inbox are suggestions for your teammate. A person reviews and sends them, and they appear under that person’s name.

Will telling people it’s an AI put them off?

In our experience, what puts people off is feeling tricked. A fast, correct answer with an easy way to reach a person builds more trust than pretending.
